Six Syrian nationals die in boat accident in the Aegean

Six Syrian refugees have died in a boat accident in the Aegean Sea shore off Turkey’s western province of Balıkesir while trying to cross to the Greek island of Lesbos.

The boat sank at approximately 2 a.m. and rescue efforts started at 3 a.m. local time in Turkey. Nine refugees who are also Syrian nationals were rescued.

Three of the six refugees who died were children.
