The Education Ministry and local authorities launched investigations yesterday against a principal and a religion teacher at a primary school in the Aegean province of Manisa for inviting a Shiite Muslim imam to class on April 3.Two inspectors from the Education Directorate have already questioned principal Ercan Çiftçi and religion teacher Durmuş Ali Etbaş, while the Education Ministry is to send two more inspectors as part of a separate investigation. Etbaş invited Bayram Dalga,to discuss the Alevi and Shiite faiths with seventh-grade students.
