Protocol signed to protect caretta carettas in Mediterranean

A protocol has been signed by the Kemer District Municipality and Ulupınar Environmental Protection, Development and Operation Cooperative to protect, watch and introduce endangered caretta carettas, or loggerhead turtles, in the Kemer district of the Mediterranean resort town of Antalya.

The signed protocol includes the region’s Çıralı Beach, Maden coast between Çıralı and Tekirova, waterside thickets of Beycik, Boncuk and Mehmetli, along with the Bay of Küçük Boncuk.

The protocol will promote loggerhead population research, protection of the animals, provide material and personnel support, and introduce their issues in international and domestic fairs.
