Prosecutor in critical condition after being shot in eastern Turkey

Public prosecutor Hakan Kılıç was shot while walking home in the eastern province of Ağrı’s Doğubeyazıt district yesterday.
Police detained three suspects linked to the shooting 60 kilometers away from Doğubeyazıt later in the day.
An assailant approached Kılıç on foot and fired two bullets at his chest and one at his head from close proximity, according to reports. The gunman fled the scene while Kılıç was placed in intensive care at Erzurum Atatürk University Hospital after being flown there by military helicopter. He was later transferred to Ankara with a hospital airplane belonging to Turkey's Health Ministry.
Initial reports contained neither information about the motive for shooting Kılıç nor the names of the suspects.
Kılıç is married and has one child.
