Pianist Güher and Süher Pekinel sisters received their awards from IKSV President Bülent Eczacıbaşı.

The postponed award ceremony and opening concert for the 41st Istanbul Music Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) was held on Nov. 10 at the Lütfi Kırdar Congress and Exhibition Center in Istanbul. The festival took place between June 4 and 29. 

Turkey’s famous piano duo Gühern and Süher Pekinel sisters were presented the festival’s honorary awards for their efforts to educate young musicians. They received their awards from IKSV President Bülent Eczacıbaşı. 

The ceremony continued with a concert by the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic under the baton of Sascha Goetzel. The winner of the 7th International Young Musicians Tchaikovsky, 17-year-old violinist Veriko Çumburidze was the soloist for the concert. 

The contributors of the festival also received plaques at the ceremony. 

The festival hosted some 500 names like Vadim Repin, Maxim Vengerov, Shlomo Mintz, Mario Joao Pires, Khatia Buniatishvili, Magdelena Kozena, Kim Kashkashian and Sol Gabetta.
