Five soldiers and one civilian were wounded on Aug. 19 in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) attack in the Özalp district of the eastern province of Van, Doğan News Agency has reported.

PKK militants detonated an explosive placed on a culvert on the 50th kilometer of the Van-Özalp motorway during the passing of a military vehicle.

According to initial reports, five soldiers and one civilian, who was driving near the scene, were wounded in the attack. The wounded were transferred to hospitals in the province with two soldiers reported to be in critical condition. 

Meanwhile, security forces conducted an operation to apprehend the PKK militants responsible for the attack.
