PKK attack on worksite kills two in Turkey’s Hakkari Two workers were killed and another two were wounded on Aug. 26 when outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants staged an armed attack on a worksite in the Yüksekova district of the southeastern province of Hakkari, Doğan News Agency has reported.

A group of PKK militants staged an armed attack with long-barreled weapons targeting workers on a road construction site in the Dağlıca region in the morning hours.

Two workers were killed in the attack while another two were wounded, with one reported to be in a critical condition.

The wounded workers were transferred to the Yüksekova State Hospital by helicopter.

Meanwhile, security forces conducted an air-supported operation in the region to apprehend the fleeing PKK militants.

Another attack was carried out on Aug. 25 in the İpekyolu district of the eastern province of Van. The PKK militants launched an attack on police headquarters with mortars, causing four people, of whom two were police officers, to get wounded. 

A large scale operation has been launched to apprehend the militants involved in the attack.
