Turkish man trains his dog to stop violence against women, console victims
A man in the eastern Turkish province of Malatya has said he trained his dog, Bobo, to stop violence against women and console the victims. Click through for the story in photos...
Demirören News Agency reported Jan. 4 that local cafe owner Hakan Keten, 34, had adopted Bobo immediately after he was born.
“He is too sensitive against violence. He once chased a man when he stopped him shouting at a woman in a park,” Keten said. “Then we decided to test it and we saw that he really tries to stop the perpetrator whenever he spots a woman targeted by him.”
Bobo’s sensitivity led to a comprehensive training, the cafe owner added, as the dog is now even consoling victims by wiping away their tears with his paws.
“We love Bobo so much. We come here just to see him,” a frequent customer, Ömer Konakçı, was quoted as saying.
Another customer, Emine Haskol, told the agency that scientific studies can be made on different species of dogs to find why some of them tend to intervene to stop violence incidents.
