Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency on Aug. 14 reported the story of Bülent Palabıyık, a Germany-born Turk who now resides in the western Turkish province of İzmir.
The 54-year-old father of two has been busy renovating cars in his workshop for the past 29 years.
Dubbed “Bülent the junkman,” Palabıyık said he renovated 230 classic cars, some of them taking as long as a full year, which earned him several awards.
“Some 200,000 Turkish liras have to be spent to refurbish a good car. I do not get tired when I renovate classics. I sometimes talk to them and sometimes I cry when I have to say goodbye to them after a sale,” he said.
