Turkish actress hospitalized after drinking diesel exhaust fluid on stage
A prominent Turkish actress was rushed to hospital on Dec. 4 after accidentally drinking diesel exhaust fluid instead of water on stage.
Sumru Yavrucuk, 57, was acting in the play “The Beauty Queen of Leenane” in Turkey’s Aegean resort town of Marmaris.
But she started vomiting on stage after drinking the liquid from a glass on the table. She was taken to a nearby private hospital.
“Adblue liquid was accidentally put in the water glass. I was supposed to drink water from a glass as part of the mise-en-scene,” Yavrucuk said on her Twitter account on Dec. 5.
“I have been discharged. I will be on stage in Bodrum tonight. I thank everyone who was worried for me,” she added.
Adblue, known as AUS 32 aqueous urea solution, is a trademark of diesel exhaust fluid used in automobiles to lower exhaust emissions.
