Works for the construction of an office building in İzmir’s Konak district were halted when the first clues of the ruins were found during a digging to lay foundation.
The İzmir Regional Board to Protect Cultural Artifacts inspected the ruins and concluded that they belonged to the Roman era.
The construction will wait until the expert report about the protection and registration of the artifacts is prepared, according to a report published by Demirören News Agency on Oct. 25.
