Massive fire engulfs factory in Istanbul
Fire engulfed a textile and yarn factory in Istanbul’s Davutpaşa neighborhood on June 11, as pillars of smoke could be seen from most districts of Turkey’s largest city. Click through for the full story in photos...
The fire was first reported at 7:15 a.m. The factory, owned by Ketenoğlu Tekstil Company, quickly became engulfed in flames.
Turkish authorities dispatched several fire trucks to Davutpaşa neighborhood from both the European and Asian side of Istanbul.
The fire continued for more than two hours as firefighters struggled to control it due to the massive stock of flammable material inside the factory, including textile products.
