Artist makes fish sculpture out of plastic wastes in Hatay
A mosaic artist from Turkey’s southern Hatay province has turned plastic wastes collected from the seaside of Samandağ into a fish sculpture.
Mervan Altınorak has collected the plastic wastes, washed ashore by the waves, over two months. He also collected old plastic toys from his surroundings. He then modelled the wastes into a two-meter-long and three-meter-wide fish sculpture.
Speaking to state-run Anadolu Agency, Altınorak said that his sculpture aims to raise awareness on the environment.
He also added his wish to contribute to Turkey’s Zero Waste Blue Project that aims to protect aquatic resources.
