French auto group PSA Peugeot Citroen said today it would cut 8,000 jobs in its domestic operations as a sharp downturn in the European market led to a loss in the first quarter.

PSA, France's biggest carmaker and second in Europe to Germany's Volkswagen, said it expected the European market to shrink 8.0 percent this year and had to adjust its business in the face of a worsening outlook.

This is called “innovative” and “creative” management style of Neoliberal economic system. As soon as there is nothing left from the same cake(market-share)to gain, there is no more profit to satisfy the shareholders’ profit expectation. So the only solution is to lay employees off then to expect costumer-buying power. The neoliberal economic system is well aware that relationship between demand and supply is not like one-way street.Nonetheless it continues with it, which seems to dig its own grave
