Over 4,100 people have been wounded and two people have been killed in Turkey’s nationwide Gezi Park protests as of June 4, according to a statement released today by the Turkish Medical Association (TTB).

Twelve provinces, excluding Mersin, Hatay and Çanakkale, which will soon inform the association as well, reported 4,177 injured protesters – 43 of whom are in serious condition. Two people in Ankara and one in Eskisehir are in critical condition, according to the statement.

Fifteen people have suffered from head trauma while 10 have eye injuries, the association said.

Two people have so far died in the protests, the statement confirmed. Abdullah Cömert, a 22-year-old youth branch member of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), was killed in Antakya on June 3 during the clashes, while 20-year-old Mehmet Ayvalıtaş was hit and killed after a car driver ignored warnings to stop for protesters in Ümraniye’s 1 Mayıs neighborhood on the night of June 2.
