The meaning of the attack on Kılıçdaroğlu

The leader of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, survived a rocket assassination attempt by minutes due to the keen attention of a gendarmerie team. We send our best wishes to Kılıçdaroğlu and his colleagues in the motorcade.

The determination and strength the CHP leader has shown since this attack, which was prevented only by minutes, are quite applaudable. Kılıçdaroğlu did not lose his temper despite the severity of the incident and his discourse and society-soothing stance are praiseworthy.

No doubt this attack was targeting democracy, aiming to drag Turkey into a chaotic environment.
After the recent bloody coup attempt staged on July 15 intending to kill President Tayyip Erdoğan, it is thought-provoking that there is an assassination attempt on Kılıçdaroğlu. Apparently, terror organizations and the dark forces behind them want to drag Turkey into an internal conflict, bring down democracy, demolish the newly-formed political climate and turn the country into Syria.

A rocket attack on the opposition leader soon after a bloody coup attempt demonstrates that terror gangs and the dark forces behind them will continue to stage these kinds of acts aiming to create chaos.
The attack on Kılıçdaroğlu should be assessed together with two incidents: The attempted coup on July 15 and the Jarablus operation of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK).

After these two important incidents, it can be seen that terror organizations such as the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) and Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) have simultaneously increased their attacks. The target of all of three is to destroy democracy and the Republic of Turkey.

With this aim in mind, they are trying to destroy the solidarity and unity spirit that has re-emerged in society; however, with each attack this spirit is strengthening.

The national solidarity that has emerged since the coup attempt, the TSK’s Jarablus operation and the attack on Kılıçdaroğlu show the people’s awareness of democracy and the republic and this gives hope and confidence for the future.

The size of the threat becomes clearer with each day. The aim of FETÖ is to seize the state and form a new regime. It has even attempted to stage a bloody coup with this aim.

For dozens of year, the PKK, with its terror acts, with its armed insurrections with foreign support, has targeted the disintegration of Turkey and forming a separate state in the southeast.

ISIL is after toppling the secular state in Turkey and forming in its place a religious state according to its own mentality, as in Iraq and Syria.

The big picture shows that all three terror organizations have become national issues for Turkey.
National issues can only be overcome through national struggles. A national struggle requires national unity and solidarity.

Turkey caught this spirit after the July 15 coup attempt. For Turkey to defeat these terror organizations, it has to continue strengthening its presence with democratic and secular features.

It should not be forgotten that this struggle is a long-term one.
