Trump may stage his first visit in Turkey

The title might look like a far-fetched one. Also, I have not heard any piece of news or a hint from Washington. I am only looking at what U.S. President-elect Donald Trump is saying. Also I am looking at the incidents occurring in our region.

What I mean with the “here” in the title is the clashing area from Baghdad to Istanbul.

Now, let me start to explain: The most important man in the U.S. intelligence is saying that there was Russia’s cyber-attack in the last elections. In other words, he is saying that Donald Trump was not elected by the U.S. voters, but it was Russia who made it possible that he was elected.

This is a very serious claim against Trump. Apparently, a debate on Trump’s legitimacy is trying to be opened. Obviously there is a preparation in the “deep throat” of the U.S. This preparation is one who wishes to degrade Trump.

However, at the same time, another question has been raised by Trump’s team: “Did the Obama administration know of this connection of the YPG [People’s Protection Units] which cooperates with the PKK, which is on the list of terror organizations?”

In other words, the Trump team is saying, “I can accuse the Obama administration of arming the YPG, of abetting and guiding terrorism.” The Trump administration has information on this matter.

Barack Obama’s secretary of defense had a pretty clear answer at the commission: “We knew of YPG’s contact with the PKK.”

Well, this is the critical point. This is how the ruthless power struggle in Washington reflects on our land, in this region. The reply Trump will give to the Obama administration’s attack passes through Ankara, Baghdad and Syria.

Looking from here

We are sending this message to the Trump administration: “If you stop supporting the YPG and if you extradite Fethullah Gülen, the head of FETÖ [Fethullahist Terrorist Organization], then our relationships would continue with the same warmth and confidence as it used to be.”

Turkey’s message continues as this: “We do not have the old mindset anymore. We will no longer bury our heads inside our borders. We will not be cheated on what has happened in the past such as the imposition of the ‘Poised Hammer’ in Iraq. We would intervene if here is a preparation beyond our borders against our existence.”

What will happen now?

Turkey will talk about this issue with the Trump administration, the alliance with the YPG, the one that the Obama administration has accepted.

Turkey’s discussions with Baghdad at the prime ministry level is an important message to the Trump administration.

With the visit of Prime Minister Binali Yildirim to Baghdad, Turkey has conveyed this message to the new administration in the U.S.: “We are ready to negotiate here; as long as there is a trustworthy U.S. administration before us.”

Remember, when Obama came to power, his first statement was that they would be withdrawing their troops from Iraq, Afghanistan and the region. Obama wanted to use the Arabs and the Kurds in the region in place of his own troops.

But, thus, he forgot 60-year-old NATO partner Turkey. And he lost the initiative to the Russians.

Well, now, Trump will act according to this reality.

For this reason, I am saying that Turkey has done the correct thing by being in the field. Trump will probably make his first trip to this region because the mistakes of the Obama administration are totally in this region.
More importantly, a man like Trump would absolutely see with his own eyes where the trouble has been experienced.

Because he is a builder, he is a developer.

In short, Obama, as a lawyer, was in court without visiting the scene of accident.

Trump, on the other hand, will not make a decision without seeing the site.
