Freed so that he can rape five more women?

We hear of sexual abuse, rapes and violence against women every day. Enough. 

We hear of male violence every day. Yes, this is the name of it: Male violence. 

One of the biggest issues of our country is that certain men are jerks. They cannot control themselves. They have the wrong perception of women. They have a crooked sense of decency. God damn all of them. And they enjoy impunity. 

Law enforcement somehow pardons them; the system prevents them from receiving proper punishments; the sentences are reduced due to all kinds of reasoning… I have written this a thousand times; I will write it again… To remind everyone of the catastrophic situation we are all in… I will write it continuously…

Here is a story from daily Hürriyet by Çetin Aydın. A nanny, 25-year-old M.T., was looking for a job. She met D.K., the horrible creature that looks like a human, at his home in the Esenyurt district of Istanbul. He immediately attacked her, put a gag on her mouth to prevent her from screaming and raped her at gunpoint.

Damn all these perverts. Thank God, he did not kill her. Can you believe that we are thankful for this? 

M.T. got out of the house and went to the police. Teams raided the apartment, but he did not open the door. Police obtained a search warrant from the prosecutor, then entered the house with a locksmith. This time the pervert told them he was sleeping and hadn’t heard anything.  
 
Long story short, when the apartment was searched, the gag that was used during the rape was found, as well as wipes with sperm on them. The person was then found to have been detained in 2012 for sexual abuse. 

Who knows what he has done to other women – we only know of the ones who filed complaints. What about those who did not complain, who could not do so because of fear and social complications? 

In this incident, we have the statement from M.T. Her body bears marks from battery, as well as bruises and scratches. The offensive weapon used during the crime, the gag and the wipes with sperm were found in the apartment. Moreover, this man is a sex offender. 

When you add all this together, then this creature should go to prison, right? 

But, guess what happened: He was set free on parole. I mean, it is easy to go mad in this country. Why was this pervert set free? So that he can rape five more women? 

How come dozens of journalists are in prison when they do not know what they have been charged with; their indictments have not been written.  

Guys who have raped women using sex toys and whose sperm-stained wipes have been found are released… I don’t have any words to say to this, but only “It’s a crying shame.”

However, there are exemplary cases as well, even though they are rare. I applaud them endlessly. This story is by Gökçer Tahincioğlu from daily Milliyet. 

A woman in Ankara, on her way back home from work, got off the bus and started walking home. While she was walking, she noticed a red car following her. She was not so sure, so she went into a market to get some water; when she went out she noticed the car was still there. 

She rushed to her apartment, entered the building and hung around in the corridor so that the stalker would not be able to figure out which one was her apartment. But somehow, the pervert entered the building and attacked her. He closed her mouth and said things like, “I want to have you.” 

Can you imagine? This is happening in the capital city of this country; well, as a matter of fact, a woman was raped in an Ankara bus before. 

When the man with the red car started touching various parts of her body, there was a brawl and she screamed. Neighbors came out and the man ran away. 

Thank God the security cameras helped determine his identity. When police showed up at his workplace, he was apologetic and said he had made a mistake, but he of course denied everything in court. He was out exercising; he did not own a red car and had no interest in the girl. 

This low-life liar was engaged at that time; while the court case was continuing, he got married. Thus, we understand that there are people who marry such abusers, but he probably deceived her as well. 

This Ankara court was sufficiently convinced by the camera recordings, photos and the attacked woman’s identification of him from a police lineup that he was declared guilty.

A tiny detail here is that touching somebody else’s body may be categorized as “molestation” but the court defined this as sexual assault. The defendant, who I see as a pervert, was sentenced to six years without any reduction. It is well-deserved. 

I owe a thank you to the court and the panel of judges in the name of all women.
