One soldier killed in clash with PKK militants in southern Turkey

AA PhotoOne soldier was killed on Feb. 14 during an operation against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the southern province of Hatay, local authorities have said.
Hatay Governor Erdal Ata said one specialized sergeant was killed in the Dörtyol district in the Amanos Mountains region while gendarmes were conducting an operation.
Ata said the gendarmes were conducting surveillance when the two sides met.
“At the moment the clashes are ongoing,” he said.
