A soldier has been killed and four others injured in an attack by the illegal PKK in the southeastern province of Hakkari, the Hakkari Governor’s Office announced on Oct. 9.

In a statement, the governor’s office said the soldier was killed from wounds sustained in a cross-border PKK attack on a base zone around Güven Mountain in the Çukurca district.

The cross-border attack was carried out by the PKK militants with two guided missiles thrown from the Iraqi side of the Turkish border, it added.

Investigations into the incident continue.

Security forces detained 90 suspects over their links to the illegal PKK and KCK across Turkey during simultaneous operations carried out late on Oct. 8, the Interior Ministry said.

In a statement, the ministry said 80 detentions were made in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır. Others took place in Istanbul, southern province of Mersin, and the southeastern provinces of Van, Şırnak, Şanlıurfa, Batman and Mardin.

Many documents related to the group and digital material were also seized during the operations.
