One killed, three injured in roller coaster accident in Turkey’s Kırşehir

One killed, three injured in roller coaster accident in Turkey’s Kırşehir One person was killed and another three were injured on July 16 when a roller coaster at a funfair in the Central Anatolian province of Kırşehir went off track, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Vahap Işık, 43, boarded his six-year-old son Yunus on the roller coaster known as the “Apple Worm” at the funfair in the Kuşdilli neighborhood at around 9:00 p.m.

However, the roller coaster derailed with eight on board and ultimately overturned while descending from five meters. Işık, who was watching his son from the ground, was crushed under the overturned roller-coaster while Yunus and the two other brothers on board identified as Bekir Erdal and Mehmet Erdal were injured.

The cause of the derailment was not immediately clear.

The injured were transferred to Ahi Evran University’s Education and Research Hospital after receiving first aid at the scene by heath personnel but Vahap Işık succumbed to his wounds despite all efforts.

Yunus and the Erdal brothers’ have been receiving ongoing treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the funfair was shut down after the incident and the police detained the business manager and the roller coaster operator as part of the investigation.
