One person was killed and another injured after a heated argument Sept. 15 in front of a café on Istanbul’s Bağdat Avenue, one of the city’s upscale areas on the Asian side.

A person, identified only as H.S., took out his gun and fired, fatally shooting one man, Süleyman Karslı, in the chest and wounding another, Rıfat Ekşi, in the arm.

The attacker attempted to escape but was captured and detained by the police a kilometer from the crime scene.

The event caused panic on Bağdat Avenue, usually not prone to armed attacks or violence. Witnesses said the three men were arguing about the stock market.

An investigation into the incident has been launched.
