LOCAL > No alcohol in universities

Nine universities have recently banned the sale and consumption of alcohol on campus, following a written statement from the Higher Education Board on Aug. 8, 2012.

"The statement is valid for all universities, but it may differ for those whose campus' are far from the city center," said Prof. Dr. Sabri Eyigün, secretary general of Dicle University in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, which is one of the nine universities to have passed the ban.

If this includes not only the selling of alcohol by the school, but outside events normally held at the schools, then they will be losing revenue from the lack of events. To each his own. It just means more revenue for the schools who choose to take a more liberal approach. It is same in USA Texas Christain Univ doesn't ...University of Texas does. Choice.

I love how they lift the ban on headscarfs expressing human rights, but now they enforce bans on what people can drink. Kind of ironic, eh?

There would be nothing wrong with this as long as there is no pressure on the other unviersities to do the same.
