A new device from Sweden will enable disabled people to more easily use computers and social media applications. Developed with infrared technology, the device looks like a computer screen and allows the user’s eyes to act a mouse, thanks to retinal scanning.

“This device was introduced a short time ago in Turkey. Nearly 10,000 people have used the device in 40 countries. The device allows basic functions like connecting to Facebook, sending SMS messages, and making phone calls for people who have lost their ability to speak or hear or have limited mobility,” Kemal Arslankeçecioğlu, a sales manager for the Caretta Software and Consultancy Company, said. The device also enables people to listen to music and watch movies. “The renowned physicist Stephen Hawking uses a similar device. The device can be attached to a bed or wheelchair. The price of the device ranges from 7,000 to 16,000 euros,” Arslankeçecioğlu said.
