Natasha Atlas set to perform in Istanbul

Atlas will perform a concert tonight at Istanbul’s Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall.

Belgian-singer Natacha Atlas, whose music uses a blend of different cultures and languages, will perform a concert tonight at Istanbul’s Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall. Atlas, who learned Arabic, French, English and Spanish while growing up, has used all of these languages throughout her career. In addition to her own projects, Atlas has worked with a wide range of eclectic musicians in different musical fields. She has a characteristic voice and it has been used in many films and video games.

After the albums she produced as a soloist by Nation Records, and Transglobal Underground, she became a hit for her own albums, namely “Dispora” (1994) and “Gedida” (Beggar’s Banquet), which brought her the Victorie award. In 2010, Atlas released her latest album, “Mounqaliba,” which aims to explore the classical world and is inspired by the poetry of Bengali Rabindranath Tagore.

Together with Samy Bishai, Atlas composes for the world famous ballet choreographer Angelin Preljocaj.

The ballet “Les Nuitadli” will be presented in 2015.
