Turkish play translated into French
A Turkish writer's play was translated into French. Bilgesu Erenus' "Misafir" (L’Invite) was translated by Jacques Salzer and published by the L’Espace d’un Instant publishing house. A cocktail party will take place at the Maison d'Europe et d'Orient in Paris on Nov. 14 to promote the book.
The play titled "Misafir," which was staged in Paris in 1988 by Işıl Kasapoğlu, will meet with the French audience 21 years later under the coordination of Zeynep Su Kasapoğlu. The play is about the problems of Turkish workers in Germany in the 1960s.
Born in the central Anatolian province of Bilecik in 1943, Bilgesu Erenus studied law. Her first play "El Kapısı" (The Stranger's Door) was performed by the Ankara Arts Theater in 1973. Some of her works were translated into English, French, German and Polish.
