SunExpress, the joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, has added seven new destinations to its winter schedule for Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport-based flights.
The firm, which increased its number of passengers by 29 percent, to more than 4 million, during the January-September period, has added international flights to Zurich, Hamburg, Nurnberg, Düsseldorf and Dortmund as well as domestic flights to Hatay and Mardin starting Oct. 25.
“SunExpress continued its growth in the first nine months of the year,” said Managing Director Paul Schwaiger. The firm increased its revenue by 5.9 percent, to 329 million euros, and the number of its flights by 26.8 percent to 28,246, according to its third quarter operational results.
“Despite a limited decrease in the volume of Turkish tourism, we maintained our successful performance on international flights. We recorded a remarkable growth in domestic flights,” Schwaiger added. “With six new purchased Boeing 737-800s to be delivered, we will reach a fleet size of 25 airplanes by 2010.”
SunExpress aims to carry more than 5.5 million passengers by the end of the year.
