Heavy rain and storms hit western and southern Anatolia, causing flooding and forcing highways to close.

Also, one man went missing as giant waves dragged him to sea in the southern province of Antalya.

Rivers flooded in the northwestern province of Edirne while the main road between Edirne and the nearby province of Kırklareli was shut down to traffic for some time. The Tunca River around the area flooded in some low places, and other small rivers also flooded. An abandoned house was destroyed due to rain in Edirne as landslides also occurred in many places in western Turkey.

Meanwhile, schools were canceled Monday in the southern province of Antalya, which was adversely affected by the storm. Kazım Şahin, a 49-year-old father of two, went missing in Antalya’s Demre district as waves dragged him into the sea while he was collecting wood pieces from the coast. Rescue workers could not immediately respond as the storm was ongoing.
