Guided tours offered for Arkeopark excavation sites

In Turkey it is hard to hear about new excavation programs or tours in Istanbul. However, thanks to theIstanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture agency, this summer the trend is about to change.
Currently, activities in Istanbul expand with a new archaeology program.
Istanbul’s Küçükyalı ArkeoPark in partnership with Istanbul Archaeological Museums and Koç University and with the sponsorship of the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture agency, the Maltepe municipality and Fiat-Tofaş, people are invited to come and visit the archaeological site at Kucukyali.
They are into their third year of excavating the remains of the 9th century Byzantine monastic complex. They will be working onsite from July 12 ot Aug. 10.
Guided tours are available every day except Sundays at 10:30 in Turkish, English, Italian, French, German, Hungarian, Serbian and Croatian. Please call ahead to reserve a tour. Do not miss this unique opportunity to visit one of the two archaeology excavations going on in Istanbul today! In order to come to the site you can use the Seabus that departs from Kabataş at 9:30 and goes to Bostancı then take a cab.
