Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan talked about the democratization initiative in Malatya.
"We take our strength from our nation, our courage from our history. We take our inspiration from our ancestors who made Anatolia into the homeland of brotherhood. We take our determination from you. Therefore we will solve this problem," said Erdogan.
"We will solve it despite the ill-tempered, slandering, and hindering opposition, exploiters and the conflict lobby," said Erdogan.

Republican People's Party Chairman Deniz Baykal said, "Erdogan's speech resembled an elementary school student's essay. For the first time in the history of the Republic a government started a process for separatism. The government pressed the button for ethnic separation. It blamed the opposition for wanting new soldier funerals. He must have lost his psychological balance."

The decision of the Istanbul High Criminal Court regarding the release of Colonel Cicek, said, "Elements defining the crimes he was charged with did not occur, and there is not enough evidence which creates strong suspicion that the accused actually committed the crimes he is charged with."

The rising number of deaths due to Type A influenza caused a boom in the number of people who went to emergency services of the hospitals. Eighty percent of the 13.5 million people who went to hospitals in the last two months, suspected they had swine flu, it was reported. The sales of preventative medicines and flu vaccines increased 4 percent, pneumonia vaccines are sold out and sales of hand sanitizers have increased considerably.

-- ENGINE DRIVER ACCELERATED THREE TIMES THE NORMAL LIMIT
Turkish State Railways made a statement regarding the train accident that occurred in the central Anatolian province of Eskisehir on Friday.
The statement said the machinist made the train get out of the computer-controlled speed limit and took it under his own control. The accident occurred as he entered the switches at 105 kmph where he should have entered at 30 kmph.

-- ENERGY BILL THAT STRUCK THE PUBLIC
A new regulation that was enforced by the Energy Ministry created an enormous amount of damage for the public in the past year. The ministry started paying the electricity bills charged in its name by the energy companies with three months of delay. High interest rates for delay – monthly 2.5 percent, yearly 30 percent – unprecedented in Turkey, are being charged. The public had to pay for the bill for this delay with $152 million out of its own pocket.
-- SUPREME COURT PRESIDENT: "A PARANOIA IS CREATED IN THE COMMUNITY"
Supreme Court President Hasan Gerceker said Saturday in Denizli that phone-tapping damaged individual rights and freedoms and stressed the need for new legal arrangements. Gerceker said, "Phone taps created a fear in the public. Everybody is scared that their phones are tapped."

Hasan Gerceker, the president of the Supreme Court of Appeals, called for reform in the jurisdiction.
"Unfortunately, Sept. 12 Constitution put the heaviest blow on independence of jurisdiction. Judiciary independence is not a privilege but a requirement. As long as supervision authority of the Justice Ministry exists, there will be criticisms in the jurisdiction," he said.

Ozcan said Kurdish started to be taught as elective course in some foundation universities.

International Atomic Energy Agency president al-Baradey relayed Ankara the proposal suggesting storing up 75 percent of Iran's enriched uranium in Turkey.

World-renowned fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger, who will come to Istanbul on Nov. 18, will provide an internship opportunity to a youngster. Hilfiger who will be coming to Turkey for the first time will visit the fashion design ateliers at the Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and chat with students.
Hilfiger will choose the best fashion design student at ITU and provide him or her with an opportunity for an internship in his office in Amsterdam.
