Depot service helps to clean house

Ali Sabancı, an investing partner of PratikDepo, said he has invested more than 1 million Turkish Liras in a new storage project and that his plans are slowly coming to fruition.

PratikDepo aims at providing a location where people can store furniture or other goods not currently being used at their homes or offices. The company seeks to obtain 6 million liras from its operations in Istanbul – an attainable goal, according to Sabancı.

During a press conference in Istanbul on Wednesday, Sabancı said: “We have great supporters, a web of angel investors. We launched this project thanks to that network. We came up with the idea of developing the project because we all felt there was a need.”

“We are not after making billions of dollars,” said Sabancı. “We just know there are 3 million households in Istanbul. Our calculations showed us that meeting such demand would require an investment of 6 million liras.”

In addition to Istanbul, the company is planning to expand to holiday spots, according to Sabancı. “When those locations are included, the number of households rises to 7 million. We foresee an investment of 20 million liras for that.”

The company was launched with the “open space for living” slogan. The aim is to expand living areas to increase quality of life, said Işıl Oytaç, the company’s sales and marketing director.

PratikDepo offers storage rooms in three different sizes – small, medium and large, Oytaç said. The small one is big enough to hold two laundry machines, or a refrigerator. The medium-size room can hold eight laundry machines, while the large room is big enough to hold 16 laundry machines, Oytaç added. The depots can be rented monthly. Large spaces cost 135 liras, while mid-size spaces cost 75 liras and small spaces costs 45 liras a month.
