Font Size: Larger|Smaller

Seven Turkish soldiers were killed Monday near the village of Sazak in Tokat province after their patrol was stormed by terrorists, broadcaster CNNTürk reported.

Four others were injured in the clash in the Black Sea province, and two were seriously hurt, CNNTürk reported. The injured soldiers were taken to area hospitals.

Rafet Erdem, the mayor of the nearby city of Reşadiye, said Tokat had not been the scene of a terrorist attack since 1997.

Aras, I think mr erdogan has taught you 2 little nice words to use as a scapegoat for all that goes wrong in the world: "ergenekon" and "provocation". perhaps the kurdish initiative was a mistake or perhaps a kurdish initiative shouldnt mean peace with pkk. maybe ergenekon started the swine flu too? aids? or maybe the 11 september attacks in new york. who knows? maybe ergenekon has influence in white house too. I hope when the aliens attack earth, ergenekon won't be behind that too.

Hey dumb-dumbs....I was just saying that it's an act of war to justify any action back. The rest of the world looks down on Turkey for how it handles the PKK issue. They have declared war on Turkey when they attack Turkey's military...that's all. CHILL!

Tokat and Resadiye are about 300 miles north-east of the capital Ankara. I wonder, how efficient Turkish Security is. Seven soldiers have been killed and six have been wounded by the PKK about 300 miles north-east of the capital. Can Turkish Security claim that Ankara is safe from the terrorist activities of the PKK?

First my deepest condolences for the families which as lost one of their sons. Second my anger for the AKparti and Erdoğan which are still thinking a peacefull road with Kurdish PKK. This is and will be impossible now and forever. This act of terror shows ones again that you can not speak or negociate with terrorists. They only understand the langauge of guns and bombs. So better to answer them in this way and hunt them down or chase them to iraq or iran. Last days PKK and DTP and many kurdish peope all across Turkey has shown what they are thinking and how they are speaking. Many people got hurt , many damage they have done to shops etc ...... No there is unfortunatly now peacefull road ..... where it will end and how ....... I only hope that no more innocent Turkish soldiers will be killed or hurt preforming their tour of duty.

This is most likely an act of ergenkon and other ultra Turkish fascist groups to disrupt the Kurdish initiative. PKK has declared ceasefire and is not stupid enough to do something like this at this sensitive period. If it is proven that it was PKK, then the ultra Turkish fascist groups has managed to infilerate the group very well. Just like the previous incident where PKK killed about 15 Turkish soldiers just a few days prior to the Turkish parliamnet's debate to renew the cross over operation to Kandil mountain to chase PKK. It doesn't make any sense, does it? WHY would PKK support renwing such a thing.

R.I.P. to Mehmetcik. Thank you for your sacrifice to our homeland and we hope you will rest in peace. Where is our Military while all of these things are happening in Turkey? Our soldiers are getting killed, our civilians are burning in public transportation, and our police who come to calm the streets are being showered with rocks and molotov cocktails. Turkish Government has done enough in goodwill to create a peaceful environment, and what we get back is strengthening of Terrorist groups. Is this how low we're going to sink? Give in to a pack of dogs?

In Turkey they call everybody who does not like dictators for terrorist. When they forbid kurdish language they are not terorrists, when they burn up 3500 villages and kill million of people they are not terrorist, but if you defend yourself against F-16 plain you are terrorist. Only because you dont accept the dictatorship. Its sad when people die, but the turkish people must ask themselfes why the situation is like this? Why do the military kill innocent people? And why dont they want to respect other nations? Turkish people are brainwashed and it will take 100 years for them to be nice and goodhearted people. Its SAD!!!

Terrorism is terrorism. Here and everywhere. We have been having the same problem in Spain since decades, mostly of deaths are from security forces, and I assure you that we are not at war. Terrorists always hit mainly security forces to justify themselves, and because they know very well that killing civilians is not a very good propaganda for anyone...

Terrorism is when armed people attack defenseless civilians by blowing airplanes or trains, by kidnapping children in their school or by targeting missiles to civilian populated areas. Such are the acts of Palestinian terrorists, of Al Kaida and of Sadam Hussein. The Tokat battle is a brave act by freedom fighters. People have the right to fight againt opression. Its a noble war when fought against the opressing ARMY without targeting civilians. Unfortunately the Kurdish resistance does not succeed since Turkey fights back by targeting civilians. The Turkish army has the right to fight back and defend itself. Not to target civilians and to inflict distruction, though.

The killing of any human being is an act of terrorism. Unfortunately the killed soldiers are heroes to some people and the people who killed the heroes of another group of people. This is the irony of human nature encountered in many cases in the history of mankind.

Of course it is terrorism. GP is correct, "war" is between two countries. When you murder soldiers from a country of which you are a citizen, it is terrorism. When the IRA murdered Irish soldiers during the guerilla wars of the 70's, 80's and 90's in Ireland and murdered police officers while they were robbing Irish banks, it was terrorism.

I beg to differ bk, when the IRA shot british soldiers they were called terrorists, when alqueda soot American soldiers they are called terrorists, PKK is a terrorist organization, you can not exactly call them "peaceful negotiators" can you!

It IS Terrorism. It can be called War when we talk about two states / countries. Those who are the citizens of the same country attack the soldiers of their own country, own land. How on earth can someone dare to say it is not terrorism!

Not terrorism. When civilians are targeted, it's an act of terrorism. When the military is targeted...it's an act of war.
