Turkish teams climb up in club rankings
Turkish football clubs Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş climbed in the Club World Ranking of the International Federation of Football History & Statistics, or IFFHS, announced Monday.
Galatasaray climbed from 12th place to 11th, Fenerbahçe climbed 16 places up from 49th to 33rd place while Beşiktaş climbed from 139th place to 112th in the rankings that are based on performance of teams in games played between Nov. 1, 2008 to Oct. 30.
Besiktaş's opponent in the Champions League, Manchester United maintained its lead at top of the list, followed by Spanish giant Barcelona.
Meanwhile, three other teams from Turkey's football league also climbed in the list: Sivasspor climbed to 184th place, Trabzonspor to 247th and Bursaspor to 291st.
