N. Iraq to get power plant

ISTANBUL - Hürriyet Daily News
The Iraqi Kar Group has signed a deal with Turkish firm Rönesans and Czech firm PSG for the construction of a 1,000-megawatt electric power plant in northern Iraq.

The deal, which was made possible with the participation of the Czech Central Bank, was signed at Arbil’s Saad Abdulla Conference Center with the attendance of Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Nerchirvan Barzani and Czech Industry and Trade Minister Martin Kuba.

“I am very happy to be at the signing of an energy agreement between the private sector and an international bank,” said Barzani at the signing ceremony.

“We used to receive 200 megawatts of electricity from Turkey, but now I can say with pleasure that our electricity production has reached 2,250 megawatts.”
