Villagers of Taşlıca had the chance to play the instruments after the concert.

Within the scope of an educational project for citizens to listen to polyphonic music, the Mersin State Opera and Ballet (MDOB) gave a mini-concert on Dec. 24 in the Taşçılı village, 40 kilometers away from the city center. At the end of the concert, the villagers had chance to play the orchestra’s musical instruments.

The concert was organized at  a primary school. At the end of the concert, the orchestra’s deputy director Tarık Aydoğan and musicians introduced the instruments. They then had villagers play the instruments.

After the event, the artists gave some gifts to children, such as balls, school and stationery materials and clothes, as well as 200 books for the school’s library.

MDOB Director Aslı Utku Engin said there was great interest in the concert. “Children are very precious to us. This is why we brought art to them. We introduced the instruments to them. Our goal is to make art accessible for everyone,” she said.
