MC wins F1 Istanbul Park tender

ISTANBUL - Anatolia News Agency
MC Yarış Sporları won the tender for the Istanbul Park Formula 1 Racetrack, beating out four competing firms with a 9.1 million Turkish Lira bid.

The other four contenders were Eylül Tarım Oto Kiralama LTD, Özyazıcı İnşaat Elektrik, CNR Uluslararası Fuarcılık and Ayhanlar Hazır Beton İnşaat.

“We will make Istanbul Park the Middle East’s largest sports complex. In terms of motor sports, we will do all that we can. We are planning a broad investment and not just a single race,” Adem Moğol, a representative for MC Yarış Sporları said.

Moğol added that they were a very large group in Europe and that the tender had 17 rounds and was quite competitive. “They really made us sweat,” he said.

The Formula 1 Race Track was built to host the Turkish F1Grand Prix, but was put out for tender when the race was removed from the calendar due to monetary dispute after F1 administrators demanded a doubling in race fees from Istanbul organizers.
