Man found dead inside elevator in Turkey’s Kocaeli after 25 days A man was found dead on June 21 after spending 25 inside the elevator of the apartment building where he lived alone in the Marmara province of Kocaeli.

Mustafa Ahmet Tekdoğan, 61, was found dead inside the elevator of the apartment in the Akçakoca neighborhood after being missing for around a month.

The staff at a grocery store on the first floor of the building had informed police of a foul smell coming from the apartment. Firefighters who arrived at the scene broke in the building through a window, as the entrance door was locked.

Teams ultimately detected that the smell was coming from the elevator. Firefighters later broke into the elevator and found the body of Tekdoğan stuck between the fifth and sixth floor.

It has been revealed that Tekdoğan did not have a cellphone and was likely unable to make his voice heard had he shouted for help.

The officials said Tekdoğan became trapped in the elevator about 25 days ago.

He was also reportedly suffering from mental problems after he lost his entire family during the 1999 earthquake.

Takdoğan’s body was sent to a cemetery morgue for autopsy while an investigation was launched into the incident.
