‘Magic flute’ gets one more medal

Renowned Turkish flutist Şefika Kutluer has received the Slovak State’s Golden Medal of Honor from the Slovak Foreign and EU Relations Ministry at a ceremony held at the Ankara Palas.

The medal, which is given to statesmen and cultural envoys who contribute to the promotion of Slovak culture in the world, was recently presented to Kutluer by the Slovak ambassador to Ankara, Anna Turenicova.

The flutist has been decorated with the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity, the Austrian Gold Medal of Merit and the Cultural Medal of the Republic of Kazakhstan. She is also the first recipient of the Presidential Medal of Turkey.

Known as the “Magic Flute,” Kutluer has released 17 albums recorded with orchestras along with piano and guitar accompaniment.
