Kukerlandia Festival in northwest Turkey

The Kukerlandia (Mask) Festival, usually taking place in the Bulgarian city of Yambol, was held on Feb. 17 in the northwestern Turkish province of Edirne this year. At the festival people wear masks while performing traditional rituals to chase away phantoms and evil spirits.
