Konya hosts ‘sema’events

Free ‘sema’ programs organized in Konya every Saturday drew more than 100,000 people in 2012. A written statement made by Konya Mayor Tahir Akyürek said the interest in Mevlana and Konya increases each day and the area attracts several tourists.Noting that they are working hard to attract more tourists to the area, Akyürek said each Dec. 7 and 17 they host a Mevlana commemoration ceremony and host many people from around the world. The events hosts many people from the US, Germany, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Japan and Iran.
