Kastamonu’s symbolic Taşköprü houses are ready for a restoration period and expect to draw attention from all over the world.

Speaking to the Anatolia News Agency, Kastamonu Mayor Hüseyin Arslan said the houses were already an attraction for tourists. The historical houses will be restored, he added, noting that Kastamonu has hosted many ancient civilizations.

Arslan said the mansion owners were excited to work with them during the restoration period.

“Our aim is to transfer the beauty that we have to the next generation,” said Arslan.

Taşköprü district was a center for trade for many years, said Arslan, adding that some of the mansions on the Kstamonu bridge date back more than 400 years.

Another project that the municipality will be carrying out is the restoration of the ancient city of Pompeiopolis
