‘Juvenile Delinquency’ in films

The Crime and Punishment Film Festival calls for film submissions that were made after Jan 1, 2012.

The 3rd International Crime and Punishment Film Festival, organized by Istanbul University Faculty of Law, will be held between Sept. 13 and 19 in Istanbul.

The festival is expected to receive a great deal of attention from film-makers, movie fans, academicians and university students. It also aims to create an artistic and social awareness about the relationship between justice-society and justice-individual. The Festival will give the audience an opportunity to see movies that focus on social change and justice process.

This year, the main theme of the festival will be the fundamental and crucial issue of “Juvenile Delinquency.” There will be a festival section and an international symposium focused solely on the causes of juvenile delinquency, the judicial measures taken concerning these kids, and the problems of the safeguards and protection systems for the children.

In addition to the extensive film program, there will be two international competitions: “Golden Scales International Feature Film Competition” and “Golden Scales International Short Film Competition.” Some of the sections in the festival program include “Crime Stories,” ‘’Justice and Society” and “The Scales of Justice.” Films that were made after Jan. 1, 2012 can be submitted to the festival until July 15.

Feature films of related to festival general theme; crime, punishment, justice, will be eligible for the International Feature Film Competition and the director of the best film will be granted with the Golden Scales Award and $20.000 money prize.

Short Films will be eligible for the International Short Film Competition and the director of the best short film will be granted with the Golden Scales Award’ and $6,000 money prize.
