J.K. Rowling responds to Fenerbahçe basketball player over his Harry Potter ‘lightning scar’

Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling has responded to Fenerbahçe’s Italian forward Gigi Datome after he posted a tweet about a scar on his forehead reminiscent of Harry Potter’s infamous “lightning scar.”

Datome was injured during a game between Galatasaray Odeabank-Fenerbahçe on March 14, with social media users immediately likening it to the scar of the fictional character.

“Guys, please tag me and @jk_rowling with the picture, it’s the only chance I have to know her. #letstakeadvantageofit,” Datome tweeted.

The British author immediately responded to Datome’s “Harry Potter scar,” while also extending her get well wishes.

“.@GigiDatome Just seen this! For the record, nobody needs a lightning-shaped cut to the head to meet me. Get well soon x #donttrythisathome,” Rowling said.

Harry Potter’s famous scar in the shape of a lightning bolt was the result of a failed murder attempt by his nemesis Lord Voldemort.
