Turkey’s Galatasaray Odeabank became the 2016 Eurocup basketball champion late on April 27 after beating Strasbourg 78-67 in the last game of the final, played at the Abdi Ipekci Sports Hall in Istanbul.

Galatasaray Odeabank beat the visiting French team in the second and last game of the finals.

“I am proud of my team, the players, the fans, Galatasaray, and Turkish basketball,” head coach Ergin Ataman said after the game.

With the win, Galatasaray Odeabank has now earned the right to play in the 2016-17 Turkish Airlines Euroleague, the elite league in European basketball.

Last week in Strasbourg, the French team narrowly beat Galatasaray 66-62 in the first of the two final matches.
