Istanbul to be Unilever R&D hub

ISTANBUL
Unilever has chosen Istanbul’s Sarıgazi neighborhood as the site of its regional research and development (R&D) center for ice cream.

Unilever’s new hub in Istanbul will provide all R&D services for the North Africa, Middle East, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus (NAMET-RUB) region. The hub will provide product development for Unilever’s Magnum, Cornetto, Max, Carte d’Or,

and Fruttare ice cream brands. The center will also include a consumer laboratory, an ice cream pilot production and technological testing unit, modern offices, and auxiliary buildings. The total cost of the investment is estimated at $3 million, according to the company.

“With the new center Unilever is hoping to speed up its product development in Turkey. This unit will encompass 35 different countries and therefore growth and development are part of the company’s targets,” read the Unilever statement.
