Some 40 people were detained and 20,000 counterfeit CDs were seized in a police crackdown on pirated CDs in Istanbul Sept.23.The Istanbul Police Department’s security units raided various addresses across Istanbul’s 17 districts, detaining 40 people who were allegedly involved in the manufacture and the sale of pirated CDs. Around 20,000 pirated CDs were seized during the operation, in which squads from the special forces branch office also participated.
Pirated CD manufacturing plants in Istanbul’s Beşiktaş and Kadıköy neighborhoods were also discovered.
