Israelis, Iranians exchange peace messages over Facebook

The original slogan posted by an Israeli couple.

A visual slogan that read "Iranians We [heart icon] You" prepared by Israeli couple Ronnie Edri and Michal Tamir became an online sensation among Israeli and Iranian Internet users over the weekend.

Numerous Israelis took up the message in earnest and attached the slogan underneath pictures of themselves to post them on online accounts. Some added personal messages, daily Hürriyet reported on its website, citing 972mag.com as source.

Iranians responded in kind and prepared a similar slogan that read "We [heart icon] You Israeli People." The slogan was attached to the pictures of Iranians who posted the message or to the pictures of ancient Jewish shrines located in today's Iran

Edri and Tamir reportedly received hundreds of private messages from Iranians saying they were "deeply moved" by the campaign.

The exchange of peace messages came at a time when Iran and Israel have escalated their war of words, threatening each other with a military strike.
