Israel is ready to send a letter like one Washington sent Islamabad over the killing of 24 Pakistani soldiers in order to mend ties with Turkey, a senior Israeli diplomat has said.

“I see some kind of improvement and opportunities,” Daniel Ayalon, Israel’s deputy foreign minister, told daily Hürriyet about Turkish-Israeli relations, which have been frozen since the Mavi Marmara raid that resulted in the killing of nine civilians by Israeli commandos in 2010.

When asked about the preconditions of reconciliation with Turkey, Ayalon said: “For instance, I can think of creating a way of solving this by adapting the American-Pakistani formula. Remember, recently there were 24 Pakistani soldiers killed by mistake by American forces, and the Americans sent a letter that was accepted in Pakistan. And I believe this could be a good platform to clear away the issue.” When asked whether this was an apology, he said: “Yes.” “If you read the text, I think that should be very clear to everyone. The American text that was sent to Pakistan, I think this is a good base to work [from]. This is what I suggest.”

“Right now, we have some lower level and we have some back channels,” Ayalon said, when asked about the communication they have with the Turkish side.

Apology accepted only,if the 3 conditions set by Turkiye are implemented by Isreal. Especially the embargo on Gaza enforced by Isreal. It is the biggest prison on the planet.

We want an apology a PUBLIC apology coming from Israels president/PM on LIVE TV publicly apologizing for what they have done .. a LETTER are these people serious? You are not America and we are not Pakistan. I'm all for good relations with Israel, IF they apologize. Is Israel really this childish, do they really believe that sending a letter instead of a public apology will make them save face? The letter should have been sent immediately followed by a public apology.

@Rimon Tree=According to your statement, anyone who dares to havea different perception and/or an opinion of events that does not match yours or Israeli public opinion is "Israel bashing"!

@RED TAIL....The same Palmer Report also states that Israel used "EXSESSIVE FORCE" and that equates to "WANTON KILLING" politelly stating "MURDER" i.e. taking human life, where it did not have to do so!

Of all the fact-resistants Israel-bashers here noone seems to have seen the footage, which does not exactly promote the innocence of the Turkish "activists", but I doubt that even that would change ideology, maybethey are too much in accordance with Mursi's opinions?

Once up on time Mr. D. Ayalon was the Israeli Ambassador in Washungton D.C. and now he is a some sort of official in Foreign Affafsis. He is also the same individual who entertained the Israeli public at large, by bringing the Turkish Ambasador to the Foreifn Office and Publicly Humiliate him by seating him on a lower setee, lower than his owb chair. Thus he is a Diplomat of the highest order, who has nothing to offer to State of Turkey, other than to play Childish Games on the World Stage!

Has anyone actually read The Palmer report? The committee was put together with representatives from both Turkey and Israel and other persons which both parties respected. If you have not, I would suggest that you read it instead of trying to create your own reality and pretend to be a lawyer specialized in international law.

@Koksuz Kosmoplit What you say that countries have No Permanent frends or enimies,Ataturk said Turks are frends of all civilised nations, Israel can hardly be called civilised, they only frend US is warning israel on its conduct in the World. How can Turkey except any apology that is not really a apology for murdering nine unarmed Turkish peace activists.Justic is required not a heartless apology.
