Investigation to be launched against Turkish intelligence officers

The Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office has demanded permission from the Prime Ministry to launch an investigation against intelligence officers accused of illegally wiretapping three prominent journalists and nine others, daily Hürriyet has reported.According to the claim, intelligence officers eavesdropped on Ahmet Altan, Mehmet Altan, Yasemin Çongar and nine other people while concealing themselves with code names.
The prosecutor's office has accused the officers of forgery in official documents, invasion of communication privacy and misuse of office.
The prosecutor also said the event had damaged the National Intelligence Organization’s (MİT) image in society.
An investigation will be launched pending the Prime Ministry's response.
