Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said he will encourage the formation of a new government in line with the people’s expectation.

“As president, I will encourage the formation of a new government as immediate as possible in line with my people’s will and expectation,” Erdoğan said in an address to the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly in Istanbul on June 21.

He also responded to the recent statements of political parties which called on him to remain within the boundaries of the presidential authorities mandated by the charter.

“Some people use remarks such as: ‘the president should withdraw to his authorities.” I am quite aware of my authorities in the written constitution. During my 40 years in politics, I have always acted in line with the constitution. I know very well how to use the authorities and responsibilities of the presidency given by the constitution. I don’t need any instructions for that,” said Erdoğan.
